Offering a Seat

Good deeds are not necessarily difficult tasks. Simple acts of kindness, such as offering your seat to someone on a train or bus, are also forms of virtuous behavior. Yet, there may be times when your offer is declined. In such cases, you need only return to your seat. For example, a parent carrying an infant may prefer to remain standing to avoid disturbing the child’s rest. What matters is that the act of offering a seat creates a sense of gratitude, fulfilling the essence of the good deed. Even if the offer is declined, your goodwill still leaves a positive impact on the person and those around, nurturing within your heart the assurance of reaching the land of peaceful rest.
